Turkey Meatballs with Marinara

Lean turkey meatballs simmered in a rich tomato sauce. High protein, lighter than beef, and just as satisfying over pasta or zucchini noodles.

Ingredients

  • 400g lean ground turkey
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Fresh basil to serve

Instructions

  1. 1. In a bowl, mix ground turkey, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Form into 12–14 small meatballs.
  2. 2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs for 2–3 minutes on each side until golden all over.
  3. 3. Pour crushed tomatoes over the meatballs. Season with salt and stir gently.
  4. 4. Cover and simmer on low heat for 12–15 minutes until meatballs are cooked through and the sauce has thickened.
  5. 5. Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning. Serve over pasta, rice, or zucchini noodles with fresh basil.
